~ Financial Assistance ~ 

There are two grants available to assist with funeral costs: the Work & Income Funeral Grant and the ACC Grant. 

~ Work & Income ~

Once the service has been held, a family member may apply for this grant. The grant provides a contribution towards funeral costs. To apply, you will need to provide a bank statement signed and stamped by a teller, a copy of the Death Certificate, the Funeral Account, and valid identification. The necessary forms are available at our office, and we will assist you in completing these. However, you will need to submit the forms directly, and please note that the processing time can take up to two weeks. 

~ ACC Grant ~

This is paid if someone has died from an accident. We have the forms here at our office and we will assist you in completing these. We will then file these on your behalf with ACC.

This grant is available if the death resulted from an accident, providing financial assistance towards funeral costs. We have the necessary forms available at our office, and we are happy to guide you through the process of completing them, ensuring all required information is accurately provided. Once the forms are completed, we will submit them directly to ACC on your behalf.

~ Compassionate Airfares ~

If you are traveling from a distance to attend a funeral, Air New Zealand offers a compassionate airfare for immediate family members. When booking this flight, it is recommended to contact the airline directly to inquire about potential discounts. A supporting letter from Gentle Touch Funeral Services will be required for this fare. To arrange this, we will need the following from you:

* Full name of the person travelling

* Relationship to the person that has died

* Flight reference numbers

Once we have the necessary information, we will prepare a supporting letter and this will be emailed to you.
